Now What?

According to 350.org, the International Day of Climate Action saw 181 countries engage in 5200 events captured in 19,000 photos. Pretty impressive.

The obvious next question is, "Now what?"

Or maybe more specifically, "How do we move from "awareness" to "action" to "effective action"?"

Maybe you have an answer. If so, please do share it.

Heads Up: Oct 24th – International Day of Climate Action

You wouldn't think a guy who runs a blog called AKA Activist would be pessimistic about an environmental event. I suppose I'm not pessimistic about the event per se, rather the response to the event by the "powers that be". The epic failure of Kyoto is a constant reminder of our governments' best intentions left unrealized.

That said, this October 24th is the International Day of Climate Action. Thousands of events will be hosted throughout the world with the purpose of acting in solidarity to reduce carbon emissions to a sustainable level. To learn more or to find an event near you, please visit 350.org for more details.

Social Games and Social Causes

An interesting tidbit from a presentation by Mark Pincus of Zynga. For those not familiar with Facebook, Zynga is behind the insanely popular Farmville game. What's interesting is Zynga is selling virtual goods through Farmville with a percentage of real money going to real causes. Very cool. Scrub to min 8:25 to get the particulars.
